About the Uppland Museum Foundation

The Uppland Museum Foundation operates throughout Uppsala County and manages the Gamla Uppsala Museum, Disagården, and the Uppland Museum. We are about 50 employees working to explore, preserve, and make Uppland's cultural heritage and history accessible in ways that contribute to knowledge and new perspectives on the past, present, and future. We meet people through our activities such as exhibitions, guided tours, crafts, archaeology, and cultural environments, which are anchored by our researchers and preserved in our collections.

About the Disagården Open-Air Museum

The Disagården Open-Air Museum in Gamla Uppsala depicts life in the Uppland countryside during the 19th century through historical buildings, cultivation, and animal husbandry. The buildings have been relocated from various parts of Uppland, and the museum also features a dance floor and summer café. Disagården is a popular destination and a place for learning, experiences, and recreation.

About the Position

As a museum host at the Disagården Open-Air Museum, your duties will include daily guided tours, program activities, and care for animals and gardens. The tasks are varied and require a structured approach, initiative, and good organization in daily work. The role involves interactions with both individual visitors and larger groups, which requires confidence in public activities.

Museum hosts and museum educators are part of a shared department that works at all museums within the Uppland Museum Foundation and throughout the county.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Ongoing or completed educational or cultural historical training
• Experience in educational work at a museum or within schools
• Familiarity with working with groups of different ages
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Interest in cultural history

Meritorious

• Experience in animal and garden care
• Experience working with children and youth
• Additional language skills

Personal Qualities

The role requires flexibility and the ability to work in a sometimes intense environment with visitors from various target groups. The work requires independence, good structure, service orientation, and the ability to collaborate and communicate well in a group. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.

Employment Conditions

The place of employment is Gamla Uppsala, where the Disagården Open-Air Museum is located. The positions involve scheduled working hours, including evenings and weekends. The employment form is a special fixed-term employment. The recruitment concerns several positions with different degrees of employment and periods:

• Position 1 has a scope of 75% and runs from May 18 to September 18, 2026
• Position 2 has a scope of 75% and runs from June 1 to August 31, 2026
